A Case of Idiopathic hypereosinophilic syndrone


Abstract
Idiopathic hyperosinophilic syndrome is characterized by a prolonged eosinophilia of unknown causes and multiple organ system involvement. We recently experienced a case of idiopathic hypereosinophilic syndrome, which involving bone marrow, lymph
node,
and lung without and definite cause in a 6 years old female. Her chief complaints were palpable mass on right axilla and edematous swelling on right phalanges. On admission, the peripheral blood eosinophil count was 24. 400/§§, and there massive
infiltration of eosinophils on bone marrow and lymph node biopsy. Chest X-ray showed pleural effusion and thickening, and echocardiogram demonstrated pulmonary regurgitation. After the patient received corticosteroid therapy, the eosinophil count
was
decreased and the axilly mass and pleural effusion were disappeared respectively.
